What do you Have?

Remember, Happiness is the delicate balance between what one is and what one has. ~ F.H. Denison

Scripture:
A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God, for without him, who can eat or find enjoyment? To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Ecclesiastes 2:24-26 (New International Version)

Some people go through life collecting things. They collect houses, cars, jewelry and a myriad of various objects. They are of the belief that the more things they have the happier they will be.

This is not to say that obtaining certain things in life is wrong or that we should feel guilty about it, but rather realizing that the collecting of things will not necessarily lead them to the road of happiness. Recognizing what is really important; God, family, and friends are more important than things.

Learning to embrace where you are in life, is sometimes more important than embracing the things that fill our lives. Recognizing where you are in your spiritual walk is often more important than the journey. Learning to enjoy who you are is more important than trying to impress others.

Saints of God, having things is not the most important thing in life. Having God and people who love you is far more important than any material thing that you could ever have. Having peace of mind, body and spirit is something that you will be able to keep with you always.

Wisdom, knowledge and happiness will always be more valuable than silver or gold.

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Father, sometimes as we journey through this life, we become lost. We find that we have somehow become separated from You. We look around us and nothing looks familiar, or we recognize that the things around us are not of You. We don't know how to find our way back to You because we don't know how we got to this place. But Lord, You have told us time and time again, that You are just a prayer away. Thank You Lord, for the power of prayer. Father, help us to recognize those times when we find ourselves in a far country, far away from Your grace and mercy. Help us Lord, to recognize Your angels who will help us to find our way home. Father, we thank You for Your under-Shepard’s who You have given charge over us. Because there have been times when we didn't even recognize just how lost we have been, but You have sent them out to bring us back into the fold. Now Lord, we ask that You would continue to touch our brothers and sisters in Christ as well as our unsaved families members and friends. So many need so much. We don't know the need of each individual but we know You do. Bless us Lord in the area of our lives that we have need of. Father God, our hearts are overflowing with Your love. Thank You Lord, for that love. We come before the throne of grace once again, just to give You honor, glory and praise. Bless the name of the Lord. Glory to Your name Lord. Thank You for loving me enough to sacrifice Your only begotten son, Jesus Christ, in whose name we pray, Amen.

Miss Me but let me Go

True love doesn't have a happy ending, because true love never ends. Letting go is one way of saying I love you. ~ Unknown

Scripture:
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27 (New International Version)

Forty-three years ago when I was eight years old, my mother had another daughter; my baby sister, Deborah. I remember the day my mother brought her home from the hospital and placed her in the crib that had been set up in my bedroom. My mother told me, that she was my baby to watch over. This was a charge I took very seriously.

Deborah was a constant shadow to me growing up, but I didn’t mind too much. She was one of those little kids everyone loved. She was a joy to be around even when she was forever tattling on me when I did wrong. Even my boyfriends enjoyed having her around. One young man that I dated even broke the rules and let her play on his all boys basketball team because she could actually outplay most of the boys on the team.

When she got to high school, she ran track and often got up before school to go run a few miles before her classes. Even though she only stood five feet tall and weighed just over a hundred pounds, she was a stand-out player and even played ball in college. But something happened while she was away that forever changed her life and mines. She got hooked on drugs.

See, my mother had died and she and my mother had been feuding. My mother died suddenly and the age of forty-three and my baby sister never really got over it. Crack cocaine was prevalent at the time and my sister like so many unsuspecting people, got hooked her first time out. For the next 20 years, her life continued to spiral out of control and she was consumed in a world of drugs and alcohol.

The day we her family dreaded most, finally happened last year, September 19th to be exact; she suddenly disappeared. We all fear the worst has happened and each of us, her siblings, carry a certain amount of grief and guilt around with us each and every day because we feel that somehow, we should have done more to save her from herself. She lost control of her life and I know I for one have always felt that I could have done more to help her get it back.

Today, detectives called a meeting with us, her siblings and as we sat together expecting the worst and wishing for the end to a bad nightmare and closure, we also hoped for peace. Not for ourselves but for our sister.

I have often wondered what her life must have been like caught up in the “life.” She has had so many bad things happen to her over the course of her short lifetime that secretly, I prayed that maybe she was finally at peace. That maybe her nightmare that we only saw from the outside had finally ended for her. Unfortunately, we were left in limbo once again and the results of a DNA test given to possibly identify a murder victim matching her description were inconclusive. Disappointment hung in the air like an angry shroud.

I reached out to friends to share this latest update and I received this from a very loving and caring friend:

When I come to the end of the day
And the sun has set for me,I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too longAnd not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love we once shared,
Miss me but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone. It's all a part of the maker's plan,
A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick at heart,
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds -Miss me, but let me go.

As I sit here with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart and write this message for me, I want to remind you, that sometimes we cannot save those we love the most. In both life and death the only way we can heal our broken hearts and spirits is to let them go. Love them for who they are but release them to the one who is the only true healer, God.

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Jesus Wept. Amen.

The Game of Life: A real Character Builder

Remember, Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and grieves which we endure help us in our marching onward. ~ Henry Ford

Scripture:
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. Romans 5:3-5 (New International Version)

I often wonder, why does life have to be so hard? It seems as though we are confronted with one trial after another. We are met with challenges almost on a daily basis. I have come to the realization that how we meet our challenges will help define our true character.

There are people that I know who meet their challenges with anger. They are just mad at the world and they show it in every thing that they do and say. These people could be described as mean or evil. Very seldom do they have anything nice to say and they actions are often contrived and undermining. You could label them as bullies.

Then, there are those who go through life acting as if they are invisible. They don’t want anyone to notice them or say anything to them. When confronted with a problem, they just try to fade into the background. They don’t want to be seen or heard and would be content if the rest of the world would just leave them be.

Another group of folks that I notice, are the fence sitters. They don’t really stand for anything. They sit on the fence and just kinda go with which ever way the wind is blowing. They don’t really meet challenges but rather, just kind of go with the crowd.

But my favorite group of people are those who meet their challenges head on. These are the types of people I like to be around. You see, they realize that in order to become better people, they meet their challenges with a spirit of determination and with the resolve that they will the victors. They realize that God has not given them a spirit of fear but rather a spirit of hope.

A hope that can be found in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Father God, sometimes it seems that life is full of grief and sorrow. We look around and see only death and destruction. We see our brothers and sisters forsaken by the powers that be. In the midst of riches, we see the poverty. In a country of abundance, many suffer from hunger. We see arrogance instead of humility. But even in the midst of the darkness that surrounds us, we can still see the light. Jesus Christ, the light of the world. Father God, we come before the throne of grace, seeking Your face, Your grace and mercy. Lord, we seek the comfort of Your loving arms. Lord, help us to always remember that this world will one day pass away. You are not of this world and neither are Your saints. Your Son was sent to save a dying world; we come thanking You for saving us. We realize that weeping will endure for a night, but joy will come in the morning. Thank You Father, for that promise. Now Lord, we ask that You would empower us to help a dying world. Magnify Your light that is within us. Strengthen us so that we may look outside of ourselves and reach out to help others. May Your light so shine within us that others may see it and be drawn to You. Comfort our grieving, strengthen or weak, heal our sick, give us new hope where there is none and unspeakable joy. The joy of the Lord. The joy that the world can't give nor can the world take it away. Thank You Lord, for second chance. I know that I didn't get it all right yesterday, but I thank You for another chance today. I love the Lord, he heard my cry. Thank You for wiping away my tears and giving me new hope in Christ Jesus, it is in His name we pray, amen.

I know I’ve Been Changed

There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altared. ~Nelson Mandela

Scripture:
The Spirit of the LORD will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person. 1 Samuel 10:6 (New International Version)

I find myself at an age where I am constantly reviewing my past. I can honestly say, that I have not always known the Lord. I have done and said things that have caused myself and others heartache and pain. But in retrospect, I also realize that since accepting Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, I know I have been changed.

You see, since establishing my own personal relationship with the Lord, there are things that I can no longer do, places I can no go and even some people I can no longer associate with. Now this may not hold true for all Christians, but it does for me.

You see, the quality of my life is more important than the things in my life. It’s more important to me to be a good mother, a good friend but most of all, a good Christian. I cannot in good conscience cause other people harm through my action or words. I find that I am more compassionate to the needs of others. I have realized that the world doesn’t revolve around me.

When you develop a relationship with the Master, He become just that; the Master and ruler of your life. Even when you think you might want to return to your old way of doing things, you find that there is something within you that speaks to your heart; your conscience.

If you don’t have that something within you, ask yourself, Have I really changed?

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Once far from God and dead in sin No light my heart could see But in God's Word the light I found Now Christ liveth in me. Father God, May I keep growing closer and closer to You. Thank You Lord for blessing me in so many ways. Father, we ask that You would give us perseverance, endurance, and the strength to always seek Your counsel and guidance. Lord, we realize that so often we take Your word for granted. Forgive us Lord, for neglecting Your word. Lord, feed us the words that nourishes not only our bodies but our spirits and our minds as well. Lord, we when pray, help us to think of the needs of others before we think of our own, Help us Lord, to seek Your living water. For without the living water from the fountain that never runs dry, we will wither and die. We give thanks to You Lord, for always listening to us, even when we have neglected You. Thank You Lord, for our brothers and sisters who come before the throne of grace on our behalf. Thank You Lord, that You manifest Your presence in our lives when we least expect it. Bless Your name. Thank You Father. Thank You Jesus, in whose name we pray. Amen.

Do You have Hope?

Remember, "Man can live for about forty days without food, and about three days without water, about eight minutes without air ... but only for one second without hope. ~ Hal Lindsey

Scripture:
"My days are swifter than a weaver's shuttle, and they come to an end without hope. Job 7:6 (New International Version) May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 (New International Version)

So often during our lifetimes, things will happen that can cause you to lose hope. You lose your job, you lose hope. Your relationship falls apart, so does your hope. A goal that you have been working towards for years still seems out of reach. Is there still hope? I for one know what it feel like to lose hope.

When my mother died, I felt hopeless. When my marriage fell apart, so did my expectation in ever feeling whole again. As I have struggled to provide for my two sons and myself, there are times when I feel that there is not hope for our situation. But for some reason, something always happens to restore my hope.

My faith assures me that I will see my mother again. Even after experiencing months of unemployment, I am still able to provide for my family. I realized that my marriage didn’t define me, how I felt about myself did. And the goal that I have been working towards for years? I keep on plugging away, never giving up, never giving in.

The word of God tells us to Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. In other words, even when there appears to be no hope, hold on to your joy. When things come against you to tear down your hope, remain patient. And always remain feverent in prayer.

But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.

Be Blessed

Prayer:
The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. I call out to the Lord. He is worthy of praise. He saves me from my enemies. The Lord lives! Give praise to my Rock! Give honor to God, the Rock! He is my Savior! Lord, we come once again singing songs of praise. Lord, we honor You because You are who You said You are. You are the rock of my salvation. You are my strength. You are my salvation. You are the one and only true God! Thank You Lord for saving me. Father, Abba, Great Jehovah, You are known by many names, but no matter which name we call on, You will answer. Thank You Lord, for answering prayer. No my Lord, we ask that You would continue to do great things in our lives. The world today is ruled by a spirit of darkness. Lord, we ask that we, Your saints, would become those lights that guide others home to You. Father, may something that we do this day, or something that we say this day, be a blessing unto someone else. May we always hide Your word in our hearts. But more importantly, may we always allow Your word and the Holy Spirit to guide us in all we do and say. Now Lord, Bless us, Keep us, Protect us, Strengthen us. Lord, we could never thank You enough for our blessings. But we say thank You anyhow. We could never express just how much we love You, but we say we love You anyhow. We could never be worthy of Your grace and mercy. But we thank You for giving us those gifts anyhow. Thank You Lord. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Glory to God. Amen.

We're A Winner

Remember, “A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.” ~ Larry Bird

Scripture:
He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn. 2 Samuel 22:35-37 (New International Version)

Have I ever mentioned that our God has a sense of humor? I say this because tonight as I was preparing to write this message, I was listening to my mp3 player. Last night I spent some time updating my song list, adding new songs and removing others. So I really had no idea what order my songs were in. Now understand I listen to a very wide variety of music, including Gospel, R&B, old school, and jazz.

As I sat down at my computer to begin writing, an old school song by the Impressions called We’re a Winner, began to play. Some of the lyrics are; We're a winner And never let anybody say Boy, you can't make it 'Cause a feeble mind is in your way No more tears do we cry And we have finally dried our eyes And we're movin' on up (movin' on up) Lawd have mercy We're movin' on up (movin' on up).

The next song up on the play list was, I believe, by Marvin Sapp. Those lyrics say; He shall supply my need, oh/ I believe, I believe, I believe/He shall supply my need, oh/ I believe; I believe just what He said. Bridge 1: By faith I believe it/By faith I receive it/By faith I can have it/By faith I can share it/ I believe just what he said. He worked it out for me/I believe, I believe, I believe/He worked it out for me/I believe, I believe just what He said. Bridge 2: By faith I will know it/By faith I will show it/By faith I will bare it/And now I declare it/ I believe just what he said.

Now if you have ever followed my messages you know that I sometimes have my own personal pity parties. Now I won’t rehash any of my misery but what I will say is after reading today’s quote and scripture and then hearing these two songs, I am convicted.

I am convicted because I sit down each and everyday and write messages that are supposed to encourage others on their Christian walk. But when I find myself wallowing in my own self-pity, I realize that God has already told me that I am a Winner and that if I Believe, by I will know it and now I declare it;

I believe just what He said!

Be Blessed

PRAYER:
Our Father, our God, our Creator. Lord, we come once again, entering into Your courtyard uplifting and exalting the holiest of Names. Jesus, Prince of Peace. Jesus, Wonderful Counselor. Jesus, my strength and my Redeemer. Lord, we lift Your name on high. We start each day singing songs of praise and worshiping You. Lord, as we begin again, we thank You for fresh grace and mercy that comes with the dawning of the day. We thank You for Your hedge of protection that was securely around us and our loved ones. We thank You for the gift of life that we received from the death and resurrection of Your only begotten son, Christ Jesus. Lord, each and every saint that is represented here will be challenged by life this week. We come asking that You would magnify the fruit of the spirit in the lives of each of us. We come asking that Your power and Your presence be magnified in our lives. Lord, help us to be diligent in not only our actions but also in the words that we speak. We speak life into our situations. We speak victory and breakthroughs into our situations. We speak deliverance and freedom from bondages. Walk with us, talk to us Lord, guide us in all we do and say. I love the Lord, for He heard my cry and showed mercy to me and my household. Thank You Lord. Amen.

Going the Extra Mile

Remember, it’s never crowded along the extra mile. ~ Wayne Dyer

Scripture:
God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them. Acts 19:10-12 (New International Version)

There was once a man named Saul who hunted and persecuted followers of Jesus Christ. While on the road to Damascus to annihilate the Christian community there, Saul was blinded by a brilliant light and heard the voice of Christ saying, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?”...And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid, but they heard not the voice.

Saul of Tarsus would journey into Damascus, where he was cured and attended by Ananias, being baptized into Christianity. He later took the name Paul and became one of the chief founding voices of Early Christianity. Here was a man who was zealous about his duty as a Hebrew, seeking and destroying the very foundation that had been laid by Jesus the Christ.

However, there was something that happened to him on that road that would change not only his life, but the very lives millions of Christians to follow. He heard the voice of Jesus. That voice not only convicted him but caused him to change his path in life and “Paul” would become the greatest Disciple of all. He would dedicate everything he had to proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Many attribute the growth of Christianity to the work Paul would now do to win souls to Christ. Paul would choose to go against everything that he knew, to dedicate himself to spreading the Word of the Gospel, something that had become even more dangerous since the death and resurrection of Christ.

Paul, would choose to go the extra mile in the name of Jesus. Will you?

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Lord, we come once again seeking Your face. Father God, we come before the throne of grace to give thanks, honor and glory to You. Teach us Lord, to let go of those things that are behind us. Help us Lord, to walk into a new day that is filled with Your fresh grace and new mercies. Lord, I am a sinner who is in need of forgiveness. Forgive me Lord for yesterday. Lord, let my thoughts and my words be a reflection of Your word. Let my spirit be led by You alone. Father, search me Lord, remove those things in me that are not of You. Remove the anger, the hurt, and the mean spirits that bind me and prevent me from walking in right relation with You. Fill me Lord, with Your peace, Your joy, Your love and Your spirit. Bind those things that prevent me from moving forward into Your marvelous light. Have mercy on Your saints today. Heal our sick. Deliver us from evil. Strengthen those who are weak, encourage those who are without hope. Help us always to be mindful of that it is by Your word and Your spirit that we will be victorious in Christ Jesus. Thank You Lord. Bless Your name. Praise God from whom all our blessings flow. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

The Holy Spirit

Remember, Culture is good, genius is brilliant, civilization is a blessing, education is a great privilege; but we may be educated villains. The thing that we want most of all is the precious gift of the Holy Ghost. ~ John Hall

Scripture:
Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words to you. Proverbs 1:23

Saints, have you ever thought about what the Holy Spirit means to each of us? Actually, how much thought do you even give to the Holy Spirit?

When Jesus dwelt among, he told us many things about the word of God. Often times, he told these stories in the form of parables, or stories that man could relate to. But they were still directions from the word of God on how we as Christians were to live.

Jesus said that he would not always be here on earth, but that our Father would send a comforter, the Holy Spirit, that he may abide with us forever. Saints of God, the Holy Spirit is many things to the body of Christ. Not only does it comfort us in our time of need, it speaks the word of God to our spirit. It protects us from the evil one. It intercedes on our behalf. It is strength, power, deliverance, salvation, peace and so much more.

When you think that you are all alone in any situation remember, the Holy Spirit is right there with you. You can talk to him and if you listen, he will speak to you too.

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, live in my life. May we look for You everywhere and may I open myself to You completely. Speak to my heart, Holy Spirit. Guide and protect us as we walk our walk of faith. Magnify Your presence within our lives so that we make look to You for guidance. We thank You Father. We give thanks to You for the power that is in the Holy Spirit. Breathe on us anew this day. Let Your drops of salvation rain down upon the saints of God. Wash away our sins and transgressions and may our thoughts and actions always reflect Your teachings. We love You Lord. We give thanks this and everyday. We submit our prayers, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Restore Our Sight

Remember, We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are. ~ Anais Nin

Scripture:
For we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:7

How many of you know people who always see only the negative in a situation? They always manage to find something wrong with anybody and everything. They are usually known as pessimist. A pessimist will usually see the glass half empty, never half full.

As I read the above quote I started looking at some of the people around me. I know quite a few people that no matter what, can’t enjoy life because they are always waiting for the other shoe to drop. They usually walk around with a woe is me mentality, spreading gloom and doom in their wake. I even know several Christians who think like that.

Not long ago while talking to a friend, she told me something that really surprised me. She said, that when she finds herself feeling sorry for herself, she calls her friend Job. “Job”, I asked. Who is Job? “ You are”, was her response.

She told me that she has watched me go from one bad situation to the next, but through it all, I am always talking about how good things in my life are. What she meant by her words were that I am the eternal optimist. I try not to dwell on the things in my life that are going wrong, but rather I try to focus on the blessings that I do have.

Don’t get me wrong, I have gotten discouraged about some things. Like being without a job for over six months, having my car reposed and having to move. But rather than focus on what I don’t have, I focus on what I do have.

I didn’t have a job but still managed to feed me and my sons. My car was reposed but somehow I got the money to buy another one. I had to move, but I have always had a roof over my head and a bed to sleep in. Even when I didn’t know where my next dime was coming from, somehow God provided.

Saints of God, the one thing that we must always remember is that no matter what you may going through, what you lose, what you don’t have; we always have something to be thankful for.

We are not defined by our circumstances but rather it is He who define our circumstances!

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Lord, I once was blind but now I see. We come before You as the blind did in days of old. Asking Lord, that You would restore our sight. Help us Lord to find the path that You have chosen for us. Help us Lord, to develop greater faith. Help us Lord, to see the world through the eyes of Jesus. Father, we come surrendering our lives to You. Help us to learn to lean on You. Help us Lord to learn that it’s not always about what we see but truly about what You are teaching us. Teach us Lord to lean upon You. To depend upon You and not the things of this world. Lord, help us to realize that our circumstances do not define us, You do. You have already told us that You would never leave us nor forsake us. Bless us Lord. Keep us Lord. Restore our sight once again. So that we may lift our eyes towards heaven and see Your divine vision for us. Father, we come praising and uplifting Your name once again. As we ask and pray this and all things in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Dealing with Rejection

Remember, “Do not waste yourself in rejection; do not bark against the bad, but chant the beauty of the good” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Scripture:
For the LORD will not reject his people; he will never forsake his inheritance. ~ Psalm 94:14 (New International Version)

A few years I had to learn a very important lesson about rejection. As many of you may know, I have always had the desire to become an a writer. Not just any old kind of writer, but a Christian writer who has a very powerful story to tell.

One of my manuscripts had been rejected by an agent. Now this was not the first time one of my stories was rejected, but for some reason, I took this rejection very hard. The rejection came from a very good literary agent who I have great respect for. Secretly, deep down I already knew that she was going to reject it. However, it didn’t lesson the pain I felt.

The reality of my situation was the fact that it was actually the third rejection that I had received for three different types of submissions over the course of three weeks. It caused me to question my writing ability. Sure, I have published other pieces, but the story that was rejected that day was very personal to me. I had put so much of me into it, that it felt as though I was being rejected right along with my manuscript.

Two very close and dear friends who also happen to be my editors called to comfort me and offer their input and support. As they counseled me through my dilemma I began to see the rejection in a totally new light. The first lesson was that it was nothing personal and the second lesson was that my rejection wasn’t necessarily a rejection of my talent, but rather one person’s opinion of one particular story.

So saints, my lesson for today is this. Everyone will not see what you see in the creation of your work. When I say creation of work, I am not just talking about writing, painting, or things of that sort. Everything that we do in life is our creation. When you go to work everyday and do a job, that’s a creation. When you instill values and morals in your children, that’s a creation. When you share the word of God, that’s a creation.

Everything that we do in life is a manifestation of our creativity. Sometimes we create a beautiful masterpiece that is appreciated by others, but then there will also be times when no one but you will be able to see the beauty of your work. The point is that we never stop creating.

Rejection is a part of life. Accepting it and moving on is the real secret.

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Father God, I come to You with a heavy heart. Today, I felt that that I was being rejected and began to question my talents and abilities. I forgot that my talents were a gift from You. I failed to realize that there will be those who cannot see and appreciate my gifts. But then I remembered, that the world didn’t give me my gift, You did. Thank You Father for the gift of Your written word. Lord, help me to remember that my gift isn’t for my own personal gain, but rather it is to be used for the furthering of Your kingdom. If my written word touches just one person, then I know that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing, spreading the good news of the Gospel. Lord, someone besides me needs to be reminded that not everyone will accept us. Just as Jesus Christ was not accepted by everyone. Lord, continue to guide and direct us on this earthly journey. Help us always to remember that as long as You are at the forefront of everything that we do. It is then that we must realize that as long as You are leading and directing our paths, we can do anything but fail. Thank You Father for this reminder. Thank You Lord for Your son, Jesus Christ. It is in Him name that we pray. Amen.

Let God Work it Out!

Remember, Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God. ~ Corine Ten Boom

Scripture:
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Saints,Are there days when it seems that life is so overwhelming that you just can't take it? Are there times when no matter what you do things just won't go the way you want them to? You’ve prayed about it, cried about it, tried to do something about it, and nothing happens?

Well today I want you to recognize and realize that God can't do anything about your situation until you take your hands off of it! You ask, what do you mean, take my hands off it, I told you I already prayed about it!

Well, to truly say that you have turned your situations, your problems, your challenges over to God means just that! You have gone before God, told him about it, and left it there. You are trusting God to handle the situation. You stop worrying about it. You stop trying to change it. You stop praying about it every time as though it's a brand new problem. Stop giving it to him and then taking it back by trying to make it work on your own!

When you talk to God about those situations, let him know that you know he is working it out. He already knows about it. Calm your spirit and wait on the Lord. Do those things that you must that are within your power, but let God take the lead and direct you.

Trust him, he will work it out!

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Lord, we come before the throne of Grace knowing that You are still there. We come before You this day with a renewed spirit knowing that in Your time, You will work it out. Father, we know that so often we give our problems to You and take them back before You have had a chance to answer them the way we want them answered. Forgive us Lord. Teach us Lord, the patience of Job. Give us the peace that passes all understanding as we wait. Guide and direct us so that we do things in order, according to Your word. Father, Father, help each of us to know that know matter what we may be going through, You are still on the throne. Thank You Father. Now Lord, continue to touch Your saints. We know You know all about our troubles. We leave it all on the altar. In the name of Jesus. Amen.

Nothing Beats a Failure but a Try

Remember, all you need is deep within you waiting to unfold and reveal itself. All you have to do is be still and take time to seek for what is within, and you will surely find it. ~ -Eileen Caddy

Scripture:
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 (New International Version)

I often talk to people who want to make a change in their lives but are unable to do so. Frequently, it is fear that keeps them from making that change. Fear of stepping outside of their comfort zone, fear of the unknown and even fear of failure.

I have a very good friend who endured years of physical and mental abuse from her husband for fear of being alone. I have a friend who knows that her husband is cheating on her but is afraid to confront him because she fears that he may leave her for good. I have friends who are wonderful writers but are afraid to share their work for fear of rejection. In each of the above mentioned situations, there is so much to gain if these folks would just let go of their fears.

Even as a Christian, I know people that will not openly talk about God for fear of being labeled a Jesus Freak, or heretic. They strongly believe in the word of God but are afraid to express how they truly feel because of what others might say about them. They won’t even bow their heads when eating in public for fear of being caught in a position of worship.

For years there were many things that I too feared. When I found my marriage disintegrating, I too feared being alone. When my children got in trouble, I feared I was being a bad mother. Even when I started writing, I was afraid that others wouldn’t find any value in what I had to say.

Then one day, I realized that the only person, who was holding me back, was me. You see I had to come to the realization for myself that there are only two beings I truly had to be accountable to and they were God and myself. If I truly believed in my heart all of the things that I had been taught and BELIEVED about the word of God, then I had to overcome my fears and step out on faith.

The word of God had already told me that the Holy Spirit indwelled within me. The word of God had already said, that “I can do all things through Christ Jesus.” The word of God said, “He would never leave me nor forsake me.”

So my friends, I challenge you to trust God and know that He can do anything but fail and that means that if You trust Him, so will You.

Be blessed

Prayer:
My Lord, My Father, My Savior, You have the name that is above all names. You are Lord forever and there is no one who can challenge Your authority and power. You rule for ever and ever, and there is no end to Your Kingdom. We come before Your throne of grace, and ask that You would find favor with us. Your word says that You give strength to the weary, so we ask that You would strengthen us. Bless us Lord with Your presence, and encourage our hearts. Help us to remember Your faithfulness and Your love that we might stand in faith against the issues that face us. We bind the schemes of the enemy to tear us down, and we rebuke the spirits that have been assigned to harass us. We ask You Lord to minister fresh strength and joy to our lives. We agree with Your word, that says, Your plans for us is to give us hope and a future. Let it be so Jesus, according to Your will. we pray in Your mighty name, Amen!

He is Speaking to Your Storm

I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship. ~ Louisa May Alcott

Scripture:
He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. "Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him." Luke 8:25 (New International Version)

So often we find ourselves caught in the storms of life. The winds of adversity, the rains of afflictions and sorrow. Tossed about like a rag doll from one situation to the next. Unable to find our footing on stable ground. Be still and listen.

God is still in control. He will calm the storms in our lives if we let him. He has the power to speak peace, into our valley situations. He can quiet the raging winds that threaten to tear down our house, our homes, our very lives. He tells the raging waves to be still and He silences the deafening thunder.

Each of us must learn that no matter what situations life has put us in, God has the power to take us out. Out of our loneliness. Out of our bad relationships. Out of our pain and agony. We just have to learn to trust him and listen.

Listen to the word that has already told us; I will never leave you nor forsake you. The word that says; I am more than a conqueror. The word that has already told you; you are the head and not the tail, above and not below.

Won’t you follow His voice? All you have to do, is be still and listen.

Be Blessed

Prayers:
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Lord, I asked that You would hide Your word in my heart each and everyday. I turn to Your word in times of discouragement. I turn to Your word when I need guidance. I turn to Your word to seek the answers to my questions. Thank You Lord, for Your Word. Father, I come asking that my brothers and sisters in Christ would be encouraged this day. When things come against them, give them power through Your word. You have said in Your word, that we can do all things through Christ Jesus. You would never leave us nor forsake us. You are with us even until the end of time. Your grace and mercy are sufficient. Thank You Father. Now Lord, we ask that You would continue to bless us this day. Heal our afflicted, encourage our down heartened. Trust in the Lord with all Your heart and lean not to Your own understanding. In all Your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct Your paths. And my God shall supply all Your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Amen.

The Art of Serving Others

Remember, Nothing makes you like other human beings so much as doing things for them. ~ Zora Neale Hurston

Scripture:
Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear—hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. Jude 1:22-24

Recently, a friend complimented me on being there for him. He told me that my willingness to help him, even though I really didn’t know him that well, inspired him in his own Christian walk. I was a little taken aback by his words as I was feeling that I hadn’t done as much for him as I had expected I should have.

As we discussed our relationship and the willingness of others to birth a dream, the dream of helping other Christian writers promote their work, the reality of what we were doing really hit home. You see, his initial intent in starting the project was to sell more books. However, what he discovered along the way became the thing that was of most value. What he discovered was that his own self-ambitions were diminished as he pushed others ahead of himself. It is something that each of us can and will discover when we learn to put the needs of others ahead of our own.

I will share something today that most don’t know about me. My secret is this; whenever I become discouraged and want to give up, God always manages to put people in my life that I have to help. What I mean by this is that someone will contact me with a need that I have to address, whether it be prayer, counseling, our just being there to talk. That need forces me to put me aside and put that other persons needs ahead of my own.

By the time I get back to what my situation is, I am usually better prepared to put it in its proper perspective. God is teaching me to be selfless and in doing so, I am being blessed by it. And so it should be with each of us.

The dawning of each day brings with it it’s own set of challenges and blessings. We usually have a choice to make. That choice it to wallow in our own self-pity or reach out and impact the lives of others. When we take our eyes off our own problems and reach out to others, God is right there to carry the weight of it all.

My challenge to you today is to take your hands of your own troubles and help someone else carry theirs.

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Father God, today I got caught up in my own pity party. Forgive me. I often forget that the things that I see as problems, You see as possibilities. You see the possibility of my elevation and in the process seeing others being uplifted by me. You see the possibility of me winning someone over to Christ. You see the possibility of me becoming more Christ like. Thank You Lord, not for my problems but for my possibilities. Help me Lord always to be mindful that when I am down, all I have to do is look up, because You are always there, waiting on me to reach to You. Lord, may I always remember to lend a hand, be a friend and to put the needs of others before my own. May something that I do or say today, be a blessing to someone else. I pray that the words that I speak would be a reflection of He who resides in my heart, my Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. Now Lord, we ask for Your continued blessings, Your grace and Your mercy. Touch, bless and anoint our families, friends and brothers and sisters in Christ. We humbly submit our prayers in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Experiencing Life

Remember, Life is a series of experiences, each one of which makes us bigger, even though sometimes it is hard to realize this. For the world was built to develop character, and we must learn that the setbacks and grieves which we endure help us in our marching onward. ~ Henry Ford

Scripture:
Then maidens will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. Jeremiah 31:13

I often use real life experiences when I write my devotionals. I like to contrast my life and the lives of those around me to the word of God. I do this because I believe that when others can see the manifestation of God in today’s world, they will walk away saying, “I get it!”

I would like to believe that in everything we do, there is a lesson to be learned. I know that is usually the case for me. Even our failures and disappointments can be a learning experience if we allow it.

In the bible, Jesus often used parables to tell a story. The reason that he did this was so that those around him would receive what he had to say. Now I am not comparing myself to Jesus, but I too use parables to get my point across. I often get responses to these devotionals from readers telling me just how much my message touched their lives. These messages are truly humbling to me.

You see, I would like to believe that much of what I go through is not in vain and that others can learn from my past mistakes. I would like to believe that some of the things that I write about cause others to evaluate their lives and their relationship with God. I would like to believe that my messages are making a difference in someone else’s life. I would like to believe that others can be comforted and uplifted in my written word.

Remember, your life experiences are but an opportunity for God to step in and show out!

Be Blessed

Father God, we come before the throne of grace once again, seeking Your face, Your grace and mercy.

Do You Hear Voices?

The more faithfully you listen to the voices within you, the better you will hear what is sounding outside. ~ Dag Hammarskjold

Scripture:
and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Deuteronomy 30:20

Saints, to you sometimes hear voices and don't know where they are coming from? What do the voices say? Are they voices of encouragement or voices of discouragement? How many times have you been in a situation where you were doing something or about to do something a voice says, you can't do that. You will fail. Why are you trying to do something you know you won't be able to do.

Or you are in a situation where maybe you are under attack and that voice says; You can't win. You won't win. They are bigger than you or stronger than you or smarter than you. Who are you to try to fight me, I have the upper hand and you can't possibly win.

Saints, there will be times when you will try to do something or come up against something that is bigger than you and greater than you. Satan; who by the way is a liar and the truth is not in him, will try to convince you that you can't do it, you can’t win that it's too hard for you.

So when satan tries to tell you what you can't do, tell him; I can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me, God can do anything but fail, Nothing is too hard for God, I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus and the final word: I am a child of the most High King and I am his favorite! And you know how my daddy treats his favorite!

Be Blessed

Prayer:
Father God, we come before the throne of grace this morning humbling ourselves before the master. Lord, we know that everyone can only serve one master and we thank you for loving us enough that your sent your only begotten son whom we chose and our own personal savior, so that we who are reconciled into the kingdom of God, would serve only you. We come rebuking the lies of satan that tell us we cannot, because YOU SAID we can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me. We come standing on your word and on your promise. Thank you Lord, for one more day and the fresh grace and mercy that have been given. Lord, we stand in the gap for our brothers and sisters who's have asked for intercessory prayer. We ask that you would continue to touch, bless and anoint all of our family members, church families, co-workers and brothers and sisters in Christ. We love the Lord, he heard our cry and we will sing songs of praise even in the midst of our storms. Thank you Father. Thank you Holy Ghost. Thank you Jesus, in whose name we pray, Amen.
